Expanded notation is a way to write a number as the
sum of the value of each digit based on its place value.

The value of the 1 in the hundreds place is 1 × 100.
The value of the 1 in the tens place is 1 × 10.
The value of the 8 in the ones place is 8 × 1.
The value of the 4 in the tenths place is 4 ×

The value of the 4 in the hundredths place is 4 ×

.
The value of the 6 in the thousandths place is 6 ×

So, the number in expanded notation is
