When creating a school account on Learning Farm, you enter your name, school name, and email address. Student accounts on Learning Farm are created by the school administrator and do not require email addresses or any other personally identifiable information.
This section covers both the Learning Farm program and our public website. We collect information only in the ways listed below. We do not buy, rent, or otherwise obtain school or student information from data brokers, advertising networks, or any other outside source.
You enter it. A teacher or school administrator types their name, school name, and email address into our account creation form. Student accounts are created inside the program by school staff and do not require an email address.
Your school gives it to us. School staff add students and set up classes in the Learning Farm administration screens, or send a class list to our support staff to enter on the school's behalf. The school decides what information is provided.
A rostering or sign-on service your school authorizes sends it to us. A school or district may connect Learning Farm to a rostering or single sign-on service it already uses, including services built on the OneRoster standard and school-managed Google Workspace for Education accounts. The school decides what that service sends, which may include a student's name, a school-issued identifier or school email address, grade level, and class and teacher assignments. We receive it only at the school's direction, only for accounts in the licensed school or district, and only to create and maintain accounts and rosters. We cannot reach a school's rostering information unless the school turns the connection on.
The program records it as students work. Learning Farm records the work done in the program: answers submitted, questions attempted, scores, time spent on a topic, assignment and assessment completion, progress toward mastery, and practice and game results. Our servers also record the date, time, IP address, and browser of each login, for security, troubleshooting, and license administration.
Our public web pages measure traffic. The public pages of learningfarm.com, including the sign in page, use Google Analytics and Google Ads tags that set cookies and record pages visited, the referring site, an approximate location derived from the IP address, and device and browser type. We use this only to measure website traffic and the performance of our own marketing. These tags stop at sign in. They do not run on any page inside the program, and no student activity is tracked by them. Learning Farm displays no advertising anywhere in the program and does not target students with advertising.
Learning Farm does not require cookies to be enabled in order to use the program. We do not use session replay tools, and we do not access a device's camera, microphone, contacts, or files.
Payment information. When a school or individual purchases a subscription, payment card details are entered on a secure page and transmitted directly to our payment gateway provider over an encrypted connection. As described under "How do we protect your information?" below, Learning Farm does not store payment card numbers on its servers after the transaction is complete.
The school account information we collect is used to verify your status as a US K-12 school and to enable Learning Farm to provide customer support for your use of our program.
Student information is used for educational or school purposes, and as authorized by a parent or student. Overall, student information is used to improve our systems in order to provide the best possible educational experience for users.
Following the termination of a license, a school, district, or parent may request that Learning Farm delete or de-identify student information and Learning Farm will do so. Any data retained, school or student, is strictly for education purposes.
Student data, including any personally identifiable information collected through Learning Farm, is owned by the student and/or the student's parent or legal guardian. School account information and aggregate school data is owned by the school or district.
All school account information and student data submitted to or collected by Learning Farm remains the property of the school, district, parent, or eligible student who submitted it. Learning Farm does not claim ownership of any school or student data.
Learning Farm is granted only a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access, store, and process this data for the sole purpose of delivering and improving the educational service. Schools, districts, parents, and eligible students retain the right at any time to request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of their data.
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you enter, submit, or access your personal information.
We offer the use of a secure server. All supplied sensitive information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our Payment gateway providers database only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.
After a transaction, your private information (credit card data, etc.) will not be stored on our servers.
We do not require cookies to be enabled.
Learning Farm does not sell, trade, or otherwise share personally identifiable school or student data with any third party.
A limited number of operational service providers (such as cloud hosting and platform infrastructure) process data strictly on Learning Farm's behalf, under contractual data-protection terms, and only for the purpose of delivering the Service. These providers are not permitted to use school or student data for their own purposes.
We may release information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety.
Learning Farm requires all third-party service providers with access to school or student data — current and future — to be contractually bound to this Privacy Policy and to applicable data-protection terms, and Learning Farm is responsible for ensuring those service providers' compliance with these terms.
If Learning Farm adds, replaces, or removes a third-party service provider that has access to school or student data, we will (1) provide at least thirty (30) days' advance written notice to school account holders, posted on this page and sent by email to the school administrator on file, and (2) ensure that any new or replacement third party is contractually bound to the same data-protection, confidentiality, and data-sharing terms that apply to our existing service providers. Any new third party will be required to use school and student data only for the purposes of providing the Service.
We are in compliance with the requirements of COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act), we do not collect any information from anyone under 13 years of age. Our website, products and services are all directed to people who are at least 13 years old or older.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education. Should you choose to enter in any information that is considered an educational record protected by the act, then students have the right to expect that those records within Learning Farm will not be viewable by guests and others who are not school officials.
In the event there is a data breach, once identified, affected schools will be notified within 48 hours. Learning Farm will fully investigate the incident and implement remedial measures in a timely manner.
