In addition to showing time, manner, and place, adverbs can be used to show the frequency and/or degree of verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.
Adverbs of Frequency tell how often. |
always usually often daily sometimes rarely never |
Adverbs of Degree tell how much, or how intense. |
quite almost very barely really too enough |
BE AWARE: Sometimes, the word
enough is used as an
adjective, instead of as an
adverb of degree. When it is used as an adjective,
enough comes
before the noun it describes, as in the sentence, “He had
enough glue to finish his art project.”
